Celebrating Seven Years of Love, Laughter, and Divine Guidance: Our Anniversary Journey
Today marks a truly special occasion for us – our seventh wedding anniversary! Seven years ago, on this very day, we embarked on a beautiful journey together, a commitment that has since woven our lives into an intricate, loving tapestry. As I reflect on these remarkable years, my heart swells with gratitude for the incredible bond we share and the countless blessings we’ve received. It’s a testament to enduring love, unwavering faith, and the joy of building a life hand-in-hand.
A Milestone of Love: Seven Years Strong
Seven years might seem like a fleeting moment to some, but for us, it represents a lifetime of shared experiences, growth, and profound connection. It has been seven years of continuously falling deeper in love, discovering new facets of each other’s personalities, and navigating life’s adventures as a unified force. From our initial vows to the present day, every year has brought its own set of lessons, joys, and challenges, each one strengthening the foundation of our marriage.
Within these seven years, our love has blossomed, yielding the most precious fruits: three beautiful, vibrant girls who bring immeasurable joy and laughter into our home every single day. Their presence has transformed our world, adding layers of meaning and purpose to our shared existence. We’ve witnessed our family grow from two hearts intertwined to a bustling household filled with giggles, bedtime stories, and endless love.
Our journey began with two individuals hailing from different backgrounds, carrying unique stories and perspectives. Over these seven years, we’ve gracefully merged these distinct paths into one, forming a cohesive unit built on mutual respect, understanding, and an unwavering commitment to each other’s happiness. This process of becoming one has been a beautiful dance of compromise, communication, and celebration of our differences, which only serve to enrich our union.
Crucially, these seven years have been marked by a shared spiritual journey. Seeking God together has been the anchor of our marriage, providing strength, guidance, and an eternal perspective that transcends the everyday. Our faith has taught us the importance of selfless love, forgiveness, and perseverance, principles that are vital to any lasting relationship. As the scripture reminds us in Ecclesiastes 4:12, “A threefold cord is not quickly broken.” With Him at the center, our bond is truly unbreakable.
Beyond the profound aspects of faith and family, these seven years have also solidified our roles as best friends. We’ve shared countless laughs, supported each other through triumphs and tribulations, and simply enjoyed each other’s company, whether in grand adventures or quiet moments at home. And yes, in the spirit of true intimacy and comfort, it’s been seven years of being so completely at ease with each other that even the most mundane, sometimes humorous, bodily functions are met with affection rather than apprehension. This level of comfort, for us, is a testament to the depth of our bond – a sign that we are truly home with each other.
A Perfect Day Out: Rediscovering Each Other in Minnesota
To celebrate this significant milestone, my wonderful husband, Mr. N, thoughtfully took the day off from work. Our plan was simple yet deeply cherished: to spend quality time together, just the two of us. After arranging for the girls to be lovingly cared for by a trusted babysitter, we set out on a special anniversary adventure. It’s so important for couples, even with a busy family life, to carve out moments for connection and rejuvenation, and this day was dedicated entirely to that.
Our first stop was the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory, a beloved gem right here in Minnesota. Not only is it incredibly affordable, relying on voluntary donations (we happily contributed $3 each, a small price for such immense joy), but it also offered the exciting prospect of seeing some magnificent creatures up close for the very first time. There’s a certain magic in exploring new sights together, and the zoo promised just that.
Wild Encounters at Como Park Zoo & Conservatory
One of the most captivating sights was the majestic lioness. Her powerful grace and watchful gaze held us spellbound. We spent a good amount of time observing her, admiring her strength and the quiet dignity with which she carried herself.
Right beside her, in an equally impressive enclosure, was her handsome counterpart, the lion. He, however, seemed to be enjoying a very relaxed day, mostly dozing off despite the admiring crowd. His powerful mane and serene slumber were a sight to behold, even if he wasn’t as active as his mate.
While we watched, fascinated by these kings of the jungle, the lioness stirred. In a beautifully tender moment, she approached the sleeping lion and began to gently lick him, a clear display of affection and connection. It was truly romantic to witness such an intimate interaction in the wild. A little girl, perhaps six years old, standing next to us, observed this heartwarming scene and exclaimed, “There should be a baby somewhere!” Her innocent comment brought a smile to our faces, highlighting the natural instinct of connection and family in the animal kingdom, mirroring our own journey.
Our adventure continued, leading us to another first-time encounter: giraffes! Their towering presence and elegant, long necks were absolutely mesmerizing. We marvelled at their unique patterns and the serene way they moved, reaching for leaves with incredible dexterity. It’s a humbling experience to stand before such magnificent creatures and appreciate the diversity of life on our planet.
We then moved on to admire the zebras, with their distinctive black and white stripes creating an almost hypnotic effect. Each zebra’s pattern is unique, a natural work of art, and it was fascinating to watch them graze and interact within their enclosure.
There were also these graceful antlered creatures, their slender forms and gentle eyes exuding a quiet charm. Though their specific name momentarily escapes me, their beauty was undeniable, a peaceful addition to the zoo’s diverse collection.
The vibrant pink hues of the flamingos created a stunning visual spectacle. Their elegant stances and coordinated movements in the water were like a living ballet, captivating everyone who passed by. They are truly some of the most beautiful birds to behold.
We also encountered this impressively large bird, with its distinct features and powerful presence. Its majestic stance and curious gaze made it another highlight of our zoo visit, reminding us of the incredible variety of avian life.
Perhaps the most amusing encounter was with a gorilla who seemed to be “giving us an attitude,” as we fondly put it. He sat with a very deliberate, almost dismissive, posture, observing the crowd with a knowing look. It was a humorous reminder of their intelligence and individual personalities, making us feel as though we were being studied as much as we were studying him.
From Wild Adventures to Romantic Dinner: An Italian Interlude
After a delightful hour and a half exploring the wonders of the Como Zoo, our stomachs began to rumble, signaling it was time for the next part of our anniversary celebration. We headed straight to my favorite Italian restaurant, a place that holds many cherished memories for us. The aroma of garlic, herbs, and simmering sauces filled the air as we settled into a cozy corner, ready to indulge in some authentic Italian cuisine.
The meal was, as always, exquisite. We savored every bite, engaging in easy conversation and simply enjoying the pleasure of each other’s company without the usual delightful distractions of our children. It was a moment of quiet intimacy, reflecting on our day and our journey together. And while this next picture might not be the most glamorous, it’s a real and honest snapshot of our joyous, albeit slightly messy, meal. Sometimes the most candid moments are the most memorable.
An Evening of Relaxation and Family Reunion
Our original plan for the evening included catching a movie at the theater. However, after a fun-filled day of exploring and feasting, the quiet comfort of the car ride proved too relaxing. As I found myself nodding off and enthusiastically agreeing to everything Mr. N said (a clear sign of impending slumber!), we decided that a movie might be better saved for another day. My body was calling for a nap, and sometimes, listening to those needs is the best decision for a truly relaxing anniversary. I did, however, find myself missing the irresistible allure of movie theater popcorn!
After approximately eight wonderful hours of just the two of us, enjoying each other’s undivided attention, we headed to pick up our precious girls from the babysitter. There’s always a special kind of warmth that fills the car when the family is reunited. We then returned home, ready to slip back into our cherished routines, but with renewed spirits and a deeper appreciation for our connection.
Looking Forward: Tomorrow’s Feast and Deeper Reflections on Love
The celebrations aren’t quite over yet! Tomorrow, we’ll be firing up the grill for a BIG fish feast. Mr. N plans to invite some of our wonderful neighbors over to join us in extending the anniversary festivities. It’s a joy to share our happiness and gratitude with the community that supports us, a true reflection of the love and fellowship that enriches our lives.
This past Sunday, the message at church resonated deeply with me. It was about loving selflessly, and the pastor taught us that to love truly is to “die” – to willingly give up certain things, to sacrifice our own desires for the sake of others. This powerful concept instantly brought to mind the ultimate example of love: Jesus Christ, who loved us so profoundly that He laid down His life for humanity. This perspective is so crucial for any relationship, especially marriage. It reminds us that real love isn’t always about what we receive, but what we are willing to give, even when it requires effort and personal sacrifice.
As we move into our eighth year of marriage, I aspire to embody this selfless love even more fully. To love Mr. N and our girls with the kind of boundless, sacrificial love that Jesus demonstrated, putting their needs and well-being before my own. This commitment to growing in selfless love is, for us, the secret ingredient to a truly enduring and fulfilling partnership.

So, that’s what’s happening in our corner of the world, friends! Our seven-year journey has been nothing short of amazing, filled with divine blessings, precious family moments, and continuous growth as individuals and as a couple. We are incredibly thankful for every memory made and eagerly anticipate all the beautiful chapters yet to be written.
